______________________________________________________The Eucharist (Soorp Badarak) has been the central act of worship for all Christian churches since the inception of Christianity. What is Badarak all about? Why do we do what we do? How can we participate more actively in the Badarak and get more out of it? This seminar will address these issues and more. The participants will:
– Get a solid biblical background for understanding worship and Eucharistic celebration, its basic elements, content, vocabulary, images and symbolic language.
– See clearly the basic structure of the service.
– Receive step-by-step guidelines of the drama of the Soorp Badarak, with commentary on prayers and hymns and liturgical movements and symbols, using short Badarak video clips, with a detailed outline of the service, cross-referenced to the Prelacy’s Soorp Badarak book.
Sponsored by the Prelacy’s Armenian Religious Education Council (AREC) and St. Illuminator’s Cathedral

Bouquet of Links shared by my friends

We occasionally share links via messenger on Facebook. I have decided to post here  some of the links shared with me. I hope you enjoy them, as much as I have.

This morning one of my girlfriends, who sends often variety of links, she shared a YouTube video of a popular Armenian singer, Harout Pamboukjian. It was refreshing to find out he had some comedy as well. From the comments it seems it’s for Armenian children. Afterwards, the streaming other collection of videos continued, some oldies, but goodies.

It’s the channel of Armenian Music Group. You might like to listen, specially if you are fan of Armenian pop music from past years. Enjoy.

A second friend of mine, sent me the link of IN MEMORIAM: PATRIARCH MESROB II MUTAFYAN (1956-2019)  May he rest in peace. I will read this article later.

Here is another one I received from another dear girlfriend, it’s in Arabic. Remarks about Women, for the occasion of the Women’s Day. Variety of women, she speaks the reality of society: https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=10154591030638577

And she also shared this amazing video: Baalbeck International Festival, 1965 by the Libano-Armenian Folk Dance Ensemble Directed by Samuel Ilandjian See Less

I appreciate the carefully curated messages privately shared by my friends. I usually don’t get to have the time to check the publicly shared links by friends. However, whenever I happen to see, while I get quickly on Facebook to manage variety of groups and pages, I click a like or add a quick message, to acknowledge that I have seen them.

Upcoming events in greater NY – March 4-10, 2019

The calendar of upcoming events is at: https://sites.google.com/view/hye-info/armenian-events-calendars

As to this week’s events, here it is as quick reference, from March 4th till March 18, 2019 – there might be other events added, so it’s best to consult the above calendar link.

This quote is from the

Lent Begins Monday, March 4
Lent is the 40-day period before Easter when every Christian is asked to reflect upon their lives in preparation for the Resurrection of our Lord. The three main pillars of Lent are prayer, fasting and almsgiving. During these weeks of reflection, the Holy Altar will be closed and draped with a curtain. Holy Communion will not be distributed. The faithful are asked to participate in Friday Lenten vigils and supper when possible and to come to Morning Services on Sunday before Badarak. In these 40 days of Lent we should all strive to become better Christians by praying more, fasting and doing good deeds towards those in need. At the end of the Lenten journey we will be better prepared to receive the resurrected Lord.Kotz Badarak
During the Lenten season the Holy Altar is draped with a curtain – symbolizing Adam and Eve’s expulsion from the Garden of Eden – and Holy Communion is not offered to the congregation. Mahs continues to be distributed to the faithful. If an individual would like to receive Holy Communion during Lent, please contact Fr. Abraham at 718-225-0235 to discuss.
