|Lent Begins Monday, March 4
is the 40-day period before Easter when every Christian is asked to reflect upon their lives in preparation for the Resurrection of our Lord. The three main pillars of Lent
are prayer, fasting and almsgiving. During these weeks of reflection, the Holy Altar will be closed and draped with a curtain. Holy Communion will not be distributed. The faithful are asked to participate in Friday Lenten
vigils and supper when possible and to come to Morning Services on Sunday before Badarak
. In these 40 days of Lent
we should all strive to become better Christians by praying more, fasting and doing good deeds towards those in need. At the end of the Lenten
journey we will be better prepared to receive the resurrected Lord.Kotz Badarak
During the Lenten
season the Holy Altar is draped with a curtain – symbolizing Adam and Eve’s expulsion from the Garden of Eden – and Holy Communion is not offered to the congregation. Mahs
continues to be distributed to the faithful. If an individual would like to receive Holy Communion during Lent
, please contact Fr. Abraham at 718-225-0235
